The down low on the coupon deal-eo

A lot of people have asked how I use my coupons...so here is my limited knowledge on how coupons work.
In the Sunday paper will be coupon inserts, put out by RedPlum or Smart Source. You can get coupons online, but you can usually only print out a couple, and they usually only print 1 coupon per a page, and then put ads or other stuff on the page. So it takes quite a bit of ink and paper...for me its not worth it.
So here is how you get the savings. For instance, lets say that there is a coupon that says "Save .75 cents on any size Jif Peanut Butter". Well that great, and it will save a little bit but, the way you get things free or almost free is this: You need to find out if your local grocery store double coupons. Our local fry's always doubles, and at the end of last year even quadrupled. The only catch is that they will only double up to $1.00, never higher. So then I save my coupon until Jif Peanut Butter is on sale. Lets say for $1.25, and I give them my .75 cent coupon that is then doubled up to a dollar, and I get a jar of peanut butter for .25 cents. So use a coupon, when there is a sale going on, and that is where the most savings happen. Now a couple little side notes...
1. You will have to save and organize your coupons for a couple months to get any real savings, because generally the coupons in the current sunday paper don't relate to any sales going on that current week. Periodically they do, but not usually. So if you feel like you have the time and patience to organize all of your coupons, GREAT! I didn't, so I joined a coupon club that does all of the organizing for me, and they just tell me which coupons to clip, but it is about $15 a month. I feel like I always make that $15 and the cost of the newspaper up each month, but it just depends on you and your family.
2.The reason I started cutting coupons is because I felt it was the only way that I would accomplish getting a 3 month supply. And, I do that by getting 6 Sunday papers. Yes, 6! The reason is that you can only get 1 item for each coupon. So for me, if I can get a package of toliet paper for free, I want to be able to get 6 packages of toliet paper for free, so I can put them in my 3 month supply, and I won't have to purchase toliet paper at full price. I have enough that I can wait until they go on sale again. If I only purchased 1 sunday paper, then I would only be have 1 coupon, and would only be able to get 1 package of toliet paper for free. So I get six, for my size family, and how much of a supply I want to have on hand. So if its only you, your husband and a newborn, you may only need 2 or 3 newspapers.
So hopefully that all made sense, and if you have any questions, let me know!

I did this program when we lived in Gilbert - loved it! The stores however HATED us (just about every lds gal participated, lol!) The stores had to put limitations on things..it was fun though.
