After the zoo I headed to Roswell NM, to spend a couple days with the Irwins who used to live here in Tucson.
The first day we went to the Alien Park. Both sets of kiddos, Bailee and Kyra, and Kyle and Eli climbed the mountain!
The next day we went to the bottomless lakes. This was a lot of fun!! Kyra loved the water....Kyle liked...looking at the water.
Kyra and Bailee
Kyra lou.
Bailee swimming like an expert!
Cute Eli bug!
Kyle did like plopping.
Kyles happy spot.
That night we went to the Roswell Zoo.
We also fed the ducks.
Thanks so much guys for letting us come hang out for a couple days, so we were home alone!! We had a great time.
After Roswell, I drove home (only 8 hours at this point) with the kiddos, and got home Wed. afternoon. My garden went CRAZY while I was gone!
The zuchine was about to take over the world!
And I finally got some tomatoes!!! Whoo Hooo!
And my raspberry bush is still alive!!
So..now the funny story (well funny now...)
I got home on Wed. afternoon. Of course after being gone for 2 weeks we didn't have anything in the fridge, but if I put the kiddos back in the car to go get milk that night I would of had a mutany on my hands. So the next morning at 7:45 the kids were hungry. I could of just gone to the grocery story, but I needed to get my week supply of food, but hadn't made a list yet. I just needed milk to get past breakfast. So I put the kiddos in the van, and just went to the gas station down the road to get a half gallon. I didn't take my debit card, just cash, and I didn't take my cell phone. It was charging, I was only going to be gone for 3 minutes. I also didn't take a diaper bag, no wipes, no diapers. We get the milk, and head home. I open the garage door, get the kids unloaded and go to open the door from the garage into the house. Its locked. Oh yeah..I was paranoid about being home by myself and locked it last night. Okay, I will go through the front door. Oh wait...I gave my house keys to the house sitters. Okay, don't panic. There has to be a window that is open..we always have a window open. Nope, we made sure they were all closed and locked before we left. I know my parents are coming to my house to drop off the dogs, but not until 10AM. So in 2 hours. But they do have a house key! I don't have my cell phone. I can't call them to come early. I can't leave, because if they were to come early and I missed them, they wouldn't know to leave the door unlocked, and I would still be locked out. Okay, I went out back this morning, there is a chance that I left the sliding glass door unlocked. So I drop the kids over the fence. Kyra checks the door, nope its locked. Okay at least we can play out back in the shade. So I then try and jump the fence. Okay you can stop rolling on the floor laughing. I look around in the garage, and find an OLD 2 feet by 1 foot knock together cube bookcase from Walmart. I can stand on that, and then fling my leg on the top of the fence. I jump on, and it breaks. My leg goes through the top, and my leg gets ripped by a nail the entire way down. I am now bleeding, quite a bit. My leg and sandel are both covered in blood. So I pull the kids back over the fence, and resign myself to the fact that we have to hang out in the van for a while. Well me being the good wife that I am *wink wink, COMPLETELY cleaned out the van so Karl wouldn't have to do it when he got home. So if this had happened the night before I would have had wipes, diapers, snacks, even a DVD player for crying out loud. Now I have a pine tree air freshener. So the kids are just running around the van, and then since Kyle isn't used to the heat anymore, he gets a nose bleed, and has wiped the blood all over his face. Just awesome! Okay, I look in the garage and I find a roll of paper towels. I tourniquet my leg, and clean Kyle up. And then the worst case scenario happens....Kyra says "Mom I have to poop." Really...serious...really. Yes, I let my daughter poop in our front yard. It was soooooo gross. My parents finally get there at about 9:45. Karl calls a couple hours later. I tell him the events of the morning and he says "Oh you should of unlocked the door from the garage to the house before you left." Really...I hadn't thought of that in the 2 hours I was sitting the van, with blood and poop issues. He then tells me that his flight HAS BEEN DELAYED, and he wouldn't be getting to the airport until 11 PM that night. (The kids were actually fine, getting them out of bed to go pick him up, and putting them back in bed..neither woke up.) Lets just say Dr. Phil will be hearing about this story.
P.S. Karl then told me, while we were on vacation...actual good timing on his part, that starting the middle of July to Thanksgiving, he is going to the night shift at work. 2 PM to about 1 AM. 5 months!! I barely survived the 6 weeks last time. Ugh. I'm going to starting packing for Dr. Phil and might as well book Oprah while I'm there.

Wow your garden got huge. Just starting to get tomotoes, waiting for them to turn red. From the pictures looks like you guys had a great trip.
That is a GREAT story, thanks for sharing! Next time you guys are in Abq. give us a call, we'd love to meet you at the zoo. It looks like you guys had a great trip.
Sara! I was wondering what happened to your leg this morning! I know you can laugh about it-the whole thing, including the 5 months of night shift, some day...in the future...years from now.
Write that story down in a journal!Killer zuccinis!
I can't belive how big the Irwin kids are getting. Nice garden - you must have that on some kind o f auto timer watering system. I laughed and felt so bad at the same time with your story. I have been in similar situations and yes - you can laugh later, just in those moments - AUGH - It is such a killer! Glad you finally got in and are safe!
