Marriage protection Act defines a marriage only as between a man and woman. If it is part of the state constitution "marriages/unions" between someone other than a man and woman would not be legal.
California votes passed something making same sex marriages illegal, but it was not part of their state constitution. A judge was able to overturn what the voters decided because it was not part of their constitution.
The marriage protection act makes the man/woman definition part of the constitution and not over turnable by aone judge's personal preferance.
This act will be on the November ballot in Arizona. Each state has the option of putting this to a vote in their own state.
Would encourage those living in other states to see if they have something like this "marriage protection act" on their state ballots in November.
