Ouch!

Last night Karl was trying to fix our washer, and got his hand caught between the drum and the flywheel. One of his fingers hurt pretty badly, and started to bruise. Well he was up most of the night, because of the pain, and then almost passed out in the shower this morning. So we took him to Urgent care, and they did some x-rays. The doctor said it wasn't broken, but that there was blood pooling under the fingernail, causing the pain (she said that the blood buildup under the nail makes it feel like someone is trying to rip off you nail! So she used a needle and drilled 4 holes through his nail to let the blood drain out. It sounds really gross, but it instantly made the pressure and pain better. So they splinted it, just to cushin it when he bumped it against something. Well this evening, the Radiologist called, and said that he does have a hairline fracture in his finger, but the treatment is still the same. We will have to see how work goes, because he can't take the splint into the cleanroom, where he does quite a bit of work. So he either has to take the splint off during the day, or possibly switch to his new position (which isn't supposed to happen for a couple more weeks). Kyra keeps saying "Your finger is freaking me out daddy!" (I'm not convinced she knows what "freaking me out" means, but it is still kind of cute. But it is feeling better, and he was even able to play the Wii, so he is happy.

Romney for President

Sadly, in the past I haven't really cared about politics at all. I didn't know any of the canidates, or the issues. But for whatever reason, I am loving this election. I love watching the debates, and following the caucuses. I came across this entry on a friends blog and and thought it was great.

The National Review has endorsed Mitt Romney for President, calling him the "most conservative viable candidate." It goes on to say, "Romney is a full-spectrum conservative: a supporter of free-market economics and limited government, moral causes such as the right to life and the preservation of marriage, and a foreign policy based on the national interest ... Rudolph Giuliani did extraordinary work as mayor of New York and was inspirational on 9/11. But he and Mike Huckabee would pull apart the coalition from opposite ends: Giuliani alienating the social conservatives, and Huckabee the economic (and foreign-policy) conservatives."

"Romney is an intelligent, articulate, and accomplished former businessman and governor. At a time when voters yearn for competence and have soured on Washington because too often the Bush administration has not demonstrated it, Romney offers proven executive skill."

"The notion that he will somehow be controlled by Salt Lake City or engaged in evangelism for his church is outlandish. He deserves to be judged on his considerable merits as a potential president."

"More than the other primary candidates, Romney has President Bush’s virtues and avoids his flaws."

Here is the article:

I was thinking that it might be a good Enrichment Activitie to have a night, where another member of the ward, someone who could be unbiased, and is interested in politics, could review each of the canidiates, and discuss where they stand on different issues. Hopefully, those who may not being following the election, can vote, with some information under their belt. But what do you guys think, would it would turn into a debate?

Family Fun!

Well tonight is the last night of Karl's 18 day holiday:( We have had alot of fun with Karl home. I think I am especially sad, because it has been great having an extra pair of hands with the kids. We were able to do some fun activities with Karl, that usually he doesn't get to do with us. There is a little riding stable a few minutes away from us.  So we took some carrots with us, and feed the horses. We found out that Kyra loves horses, and that Karl is allergic to them!    We also moved Kyle into a big boy carseat. I'm a little sad because if he falls asleep in the car we can't just leave him in the car seat and carry him anymore. But he loves it. Kyra really likes it to because she is so much closer to her brother in the car. We had both carseats in Karl's little car the other day, and as a result they are inches from each other. Well Kyle was crying, and suddenly stopped. Kyra announced that she made baby brother happy. We asked her how she did that..."I gave him a gummy bear!"  After that Kyle REALLY liked his new carseat. But it is really cute, because when they are in the van they like to reach over and hold each others hands.

It has been nice that Karl has been home over the last couple weeks, because Kyle has started taking his first couple steps, so Karl was able to see it. Kyle has also discovered that he can open the kitchen cupboards!

We also went to Pump it Up!

Then on Saturday Kyra's friend Bailee had a Princess Birthday party, which Kyra has been talking about for days! She had so much fun. They even had a pinata!

We have loved having Karl at home, but now that he is done with school, and changed his work schedule, we will be able to see him so much more!

What would you of done?

So we went to Walmart this afternoon for a little shopping. In front of us while we were checking out was a mother, father, and a little girl about Kyra's age, sitting in the basket. The little girl reached over to touch something, and the mom got mad, hit the little girl's arm (pretty hard), and said "I told you not to touch!" The little girl started to cry. Kyra saw all of this take place, and then loud enough for the other mom to hear, asked me "Why did that Mommy hit her baby and make her cry?" Knowing the other mom was in ear shot, what would you have told Kyra?
