Kyle just hanging out.

Today was a very busy, but very fun day! Kyra woke up at 7, which is alot better than the 5:30 (which she's been doing lately). We went outside and played for a while. I worked on trying to get a garden in, and Kyra ate grass because Buster was eating grass. Then we went to a friends house to go swimming. The temperature was perfect. Then Kyra took a quick 20 minute "pick me up" nap in the car, while we ran some RS errands. Thisevening we went to a Sindwinders Baseball game. The Sidewinders are a triple A ballclub here in Tucson. Karl was abe to get some really inexpensive tickets from work. The stadium has large grassy areas to sit on if you don't want to sit in the bleachers. So the 3 families just laid down some blankets and let the girls run around. They stadium also had a large inflable slide and jumping castle for Free. That was really nice. Kyra loved the slide, and by the end of the night would at least sit in the jumping castle. The Sidewinders won but we didn't get home until around 11. We got Kyra in her PJ's. She then said "Mommy bed", walked into her room, pulled back her covers, and crawled in. She looked at me and said "Night, night Mommy". It was a good day.

Today we took Kyra to a little farm outside of Tucson. She was able to pet baby geese, turkeys, and chickens. She also petted goats, dogs, and donkeys. It was pretty cute when she made the connection between a real donkey, and the one from Shrek. We also saw sheep, and pigs. She loved seeing all the animals. She also picked peas straight from the vine! It was a fun morning. We also picked up some farm jam and honey. Yum!

In other news, we were in Target the other day and Kyra saw some Princess panties. I told her what they were, and if she wanted to wear them. She said yes, so we brought them home. We put them on, but took them back off before bed. The next morning she woke up and came running in yelling "Princess Panties...Princess Panties". So I put the panties back on and explained that she had to tell me when she needs to go. About an hour later she came to me, with wet panties and said "Buster potty"...Buster being our dog. She grabbed me hand and we went and took a look. There in the living room with a little spot of urine. I bent down and said "Kyra, Buster went potty on the floor?" She responded "Yes". "But Kyra Buster is outside" I responded. She then looked at the spot, and looked at me and she suddenly realized that her fib didn't work she let out a long, sad "Ohhhhhhhh". She looked at the spot again, looked at me, and then took off for her room. Poor Buster...

Triple Digit Weather!!!

Kyra playing in her pool.
Kyle is learning to smile.
Well we know it was inevitable...but we are happy that we made it until middle of May to hit the triple digit mark on the thermometer here in sunny Tucson. So we got Kyra a little swimming pool. She played for about an hour today. Then some of her little friends came over and played for another hour!
In other news Kyra is trying to potty train herself! Over the past week she has been taking off her clothes and diaper all day long. She has also been telling us right after she goes poo poo that she went to the bathroom. So I talked to a couple people and one lady said that for her daughter she got her a little training toilet and let her play with it for about 4 months before she potty trained her. Okay...I can do that. So we went and got a toilet last night. Kyra immediately went tinkle in it! Yea...but its only a coincidence right. So we put back on her diaper, and for the rest of the night she said "poo poo" and "potty" and Karl and I would jump up and run in and put her on the potty. She would then sit there with a little smile on her face. seeming to say "Wow...look how fast mommy can run when I say "poo poo"....this is fun." But she never actually went potty. Well today Kyra came running up to me and said "Poo Poo". So I begrudgingly took off her pants and diaper thinking that the "baby who cried poo poo" had struck again. She sits on her potty. A few minutes pass and then pops up and says "All done". You will not believe this...but there was actually poo poo in the potty. Now anybody who knows me knows that I research and research and then research some more everything before I buy it or before Kyra hits that milestone, etc.... Well I assumed I still had 4 months to research this...so I know nothing. So do I just buy little underwear and completely get rid of the diapers. Do I just let her play and go potty in the toilet when she feels like it, and just leaver her in diapers? I really hadn't planned on this considering we are going to Los Alamos in 2 weeks, which is 8 hours away without a 20 months bladder factoring in. So who knows...but I will say I never thought 2 college educated people would dance around the living room for 20 minutes over "poo poo" and "tinkle"...but needless to say we are loving every minute of it.

Our new car!

We were able to find a car this weekend! Its a 2002 Kia Spectra with 68K miles on it. It will be a good little commuter car for Karl, and I'm happy with the payments. The nicest thing is that I no longer have to wake the kids up at 6 AM to drop Karl off if I need the van that day, drive for 45 minutes and then try and convince them to go back to sleep!!! The only problem is that it is a manual transmission. As a result Karl is going to have to teach me how to drive it. So my next blog post will probably mention something about marriage counseling.

Still Owieeee!

Watching Monsters together...

Well we are still having issues with Kyra's foot. The little sore that she had on the bottom of her foot is now covering the entire bottom of her foot. Its kind of hard to see but most of the skin is off and it just a red kind of callused sore now. I was really worried that it was infected but one of our friends is a resident and came over to look at her foot. He said that it doesn't appear infected at all, just that new skin is trying to grow. He put a black outline around the current area to make sure that is itsn't getting any bigger. Hopefully it feel better soon.

I even had a chance to go to Enrichment tonight. One of the lessons was Parenting your Children using the Book of Mormon. It was very well done. Basically using prayer, family time, and the scriptures to find answers to problems we might be having with our children whether it be throwing daddy's wedding ring down the toliet, or guiding them in the choice of spouse. It was really good. Karl got to hang out with some of the other dads and watch the kids and the basketball game.
