Kyle is learning to smile.
Well we know it was inevitable...but we are happy that we made it until middle of May to hit the triple digit mark on the thermometer here in sunny Tucson. So we got Kyra a little swimming pool. She played for about an hour today. Then some of her little friends came over and played for another hour!
In other news Kyra is trying to potty train herself! Over the past week she has been taking off her clothes and diaper all day long. She has also been telling us right after she goes poo poo that she went to the bathroom. So I talked to a couple people and one lady said that for her daughter she got her a little training toilet and let her play with it for about 4 months before she potty trained her. Okay...I can do that. So we went and got a toilet last night. Kyra immediately went tinkle in it! Yea...but its only a coincidence right. So we put back on her diaper, and for the rest of the night she said "poo poo" and "potty" and Karl and I would jump up and run in and put her on the potty. She would then sit there with a little smile on her face. seeming to say "Wow...look how fast mommy can run when I say "poo poo"....this is fun." But she never actually went potty. Well today Kyra came running up to me and said "Poo Poo". So I begrudgingly took off her pants and diaper thinking that the "baby who cried poo poo" had struck again. She sits on her potty. A few minutes pass and then pops up and says "All done". You will not believe this...but there was actually poo poo in the potty. Now anybody who knows me knows that I research and research and then research some more everything before I buy it or before Kyra hits that milestone, etc.... Well I assumed I still had 4 months to research this...so I know nothing. So do I just buy little underwear and completely get rid of the diapers. Do I just let her play and go potty in the toilet when she feels like it, and just leaver her in diapers? I really hadn't planned on this considering we are going to Los Alamos in 2 weeks, which is 8 hours away without a 20 months bladder factoring in. So who knows...but I will say I never thought 2 college educated people would dance around the living room for 20 minutes over "poo poo" and "tinkle"...but needless to say we are loving every minute of it.
