Friends!

This weekend Bobby and Sharon came to visit. I knew Sharon growing up and Karl was roomates with Bobby before we got married. Then Bobby and I had the same major in college, so we were usually in the same study groups, and Sharon's dad was even our bishop for a while. Then, when we got the job here in Tucson, Karl had to start work a couple months before I finished school. So Bobby and Sharon let me bum around with them almost everyday while Karl was here. It was great to see them. They are our boardgame playing buddies. So it was fun to just sit around and play games. The kids loved them as well. Bobby was Kyra's bubble, and tea time play buddy.

Bobby taught Kyra how to do "Cheers"!

Pampering!

On Saturday the girls went to get their nails done, while the Bobby, Karl and Kyle watched football. It was the first pedicure I have ever had. It was alot of fun, and they even painted Kyra's fingernails!

This is Kyra with her hands under the lights, waiting for her nails to dry.

Favorites..

These are some of my favorite pictures from the trip. One the way home we stopped at the beach to let the kids play in the ocean. Kyra loved running away from the waves, and then chasing after them. Kyle was less than amused, but was happy getting out of the car for a while.

More Disneyland fun...

Another aspect to Disneyland is all of the shows, little play areas, and parades. One of Kyra's favorites was the Princess Coronation. First you made your own crown, and then you were taught how to be princesses or princes.

The shows were great. Kyra really liked the Playhouse Disney show, which had the kids singing and dancing with some of the Playhouse Disney characters...JoJo, and Bear in the Blue house, Stanley, etc.
They also recently started "Turtle Talk with Crush" from Finding Nemo. Crush teachs the kids how to talk "Turtle"...lots of "Dude" and "Narley". Another show focused on favorites songs from various movies. In addition there was the "Parade of Dreams" (with most of the disney characters), HighSchool Musical Parade, The Block Party Bash (with all of the Pixar characters), and the Fireworks show. All of them were great, but our favorite being the Parade of Dreams.

In California Adventure they have a couple little water play areas. Which was perfect because we could just sit down and watch Kyra run around.

Also in Toontown they have Minnie's, Mickey, Goofy, Donalds, and Chip and Dale's house which allow the kids to just run around and play on everything.

Disneyland!!!

Disneyland was great! It was good to just be together as a family, and have alot of fun! We left on Tuesday morning, and drove to San Diego. We stopped at the temple to stretch our legs. It is such a beautiful temple.

The hotel was great. They really tried to cater to the familes going to Disneyland. We decided to try the local city transportation. This is Kyra waiting for the bus.

We went to the Dumbo ride and the carosel first. Kyra and Kyle LOVED both. They each got a button "First time to Disneyland", and 2 free pins with Mickey, Minnie,Donald and Goofy on them. It is part of the "Millions Dreams" theme. They give away things throughout the day. You just have to be lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time.

Then Kyra rode her first rollercoaster, the Matterhorn, and she loved it! She kept saying "Go again". She also rode the Gadget Go Coaster.

The other great thing about this trip is that the timing was perfect. It was one of their least busiest weeks out of the year. So we didn't wait longer than 10 minutes for ANY ride. So after she rode it with Karl, Kyra and I rode it again. We rode Winnie the Pooh, the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, and the Mike and Sully to the rescue ride a million times each. Both kids really like the Jungle Cruise, and the new Nemo ride. We waited until the kids fell asleep and then Karl and I took turns ride Indian Jones, Spash Mountain, Space mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, California Screamin, and Grizzly Mountain River Rapids.

Goofy's Kitchen

One of the really cool things we were able to do was have lunch at Goofy's Kitchen. The neat thing is that while you are eating lunch different characters come and sit at your table with you. While we were there we were able to see Baloo, Goofy, Chip, Dale, Fairy Godmother, and Wendy from Peter Pan! The food was great. They catered to the kids and the adults. For the kids there were Mickey shaped pancakes and waffles, fruit, Peanut Butter and Jelly pizza, regular pizza, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, a million and one different kinds of desert, different cereals, on and on. For the adults they had lasagne, salmon, ham, grilled veggies, salads, etc. Then about every 5 minutes Goofy would get up and do some type of show. For one show all the kids had plastic pots and spoons and they all played the drums to music. For another segment all the kids got up and did the Macarena with Goofy.

Kyle was in awe by all the characters.

All the tables in the resturant have paper on them so the kids can draw. Well when Wendy came to our table, Kyra was a little timid. So Wendy started to draw a little flower on the paper to try and relax Kyra a little. Then she drew a little smiley face. She then made the mistake of asking Kyra what she would like for her to draw. Kyra said "Simba, Buzz Lightyear and Rafiki (the baboon from Lion King)! This was her attempt at Simba, and Kyra reminding her that she forgot the tail.

Pohle Family Reunion

Last weekend we traveled up to Pinetop, Arizona for the Pohle family reunion. It was great. Kyra loved the lake, trees, and flowers. The rest of us loved the high of 70. It was great to visit with everyone, and get some fresh air. I think Kyra is a little sheltered...Kyra's new thing is pointing at things and saying "What's that?" So she would point and I would say "That's a dock", "That's a bridge", "That's a crawdad", on and on. Well of course when someone is within ear shot she asks "What's that Mommy"...ummmm..."That's a stick, Kyra." I swear she knows what a stick is...
